Oak

Y desde Polonia:

Oak(Quercus L.)

An oak is a tree from tropical Asia and the USA. Now it exists in almost all Europe and south-west Asia. It lives more than 700 years. Reaches a height from 20 to 40 meters. An oak is famous from his fruits – acorns. People can’t eat them but animals of course. In the past when Poland was pagan country the oak was the tree which was sacrificed for the biggest pagan god – Perun.

The oak’

Live thy Life,
Young and old,
Like yon oak,
Bright in spring,
Living gold;

Summer-rich
Then; and then
Autumn-changed
Soberer-hued
Gold again.

All his leaves
Fall'n at length,
Look, he stands,
Trunk and bough
Naked strength.

~Alfred Lord Tennyson
